Day 4. Kalambaka, Meteora / Kalambaka.MeteoraMonastery
We continue our drive northwards to arrive in Kalambaka. After our lunch stop our coach will climb up to Meteora. Byzantine monasteries perched high on top of gigantic rocks stand ageless among striking scenery. We shall visit at least two of the monasteries and marvel outstanding views before we return to Kalambaka for overnight.

Day 5. Metsovo, Ioannina / Ioannina.
As we head west crossing the winding road of the mountains of central Greece, we arrive at the village of Metsovo. Hidden and isolated, this is one of the most beautiful villages of the Greek countryside. Pebble paved streets, wooden houses and typical unspoiled local color fascinate the visitor. Wander around the little village and enjoy this unique typical Greek atmosphere before we continue on to Ioannina. We tour the beautiful city built around a lake and board the local boats that will take us on a small island in the middle of the lake to enjoy our lunch. Return to the city of Ioannina and settle to our hotel. Overnight.

NekromantioDay 6. Nikopolis, Nekromandio / Ioannina.
We begin our day with a visit to ancient and Byzantine Nikopolis located on the peninsula of Preveza, in SW Epirus and covering an area of 900 hectares. It was founded by Octavianus, after the naval battle of Actium, in 31 B.C. The city enjoyed special political and financial privileges, had its own mint and every four years celebrated the Actia, festivals including athletic, musical and racing contests. The city continued to be inhabited during the Byzantine period. We shall visit the Odeum, the north Thermae, the theater, the Nymphaeum, and local Basilicas before we continue for a drive to Nekromandio (Oracle of the dead) at Acheron which was the most famous of its kind in antiquity. The majority of the findings belong to the period of the flourishing of the sanctuary, in the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C. but objects dating from the end of the 4th or the beginning of the 3rd century were also uncovered. A polygonal circuit wall, a courtyard and several rooms were added to the building at the end of the 3rd century B.C. We will return to Ioannina for some free time to wander in the city. Overnight.
